After Pastor Silas received Christ as his personal savior at fourteen years old, he started serving God as the youth secretary in his local church. He then proceeded to serve God in high school as the Christian union chairman. While still a teenager, Pastor Silas started a prayer group in his village that became a vibrant church in the local market. In 1999, he moved to the capital city of Kenya to join the University of Nairobi, where he continued with his service to God as the MUBET national chairman. There, he coordinated evangelistic activities of the inter—university students.
          After his valuable work there, Pastor Silas moved on to graduate with his first bachelor’s degree in 2003 and started working for Bidii Kenya to train poor mothers in the Kibera slums important business skills. At the same time, Pastor Silas also served as the first outreach coordinator at Grace Chapel International Church Nairobi, which was a new church started by Rev. Mburu.

          In the same year, he moved to World Vision Kenya to work with poor communities in Voi as the site manager. In this role, he also organized the communities to help them start businesses while giving them small loans and assisting them in developing business management skills.
          In November 2005, pastor Silas married his college sweetheart, Pastor Beatrice, and they are now blessed with three God-fearing children: Dora, age 18; Nehemaih, age 16; and Nathanael, age 12. Their children are actively involved in ministry: They serve in the media department. 
          Pastor Silas is very passionate about leading people to Christ. He loves to spend time with his kids, enjoys listening to Christian music, and he is an avid reader who loves to take road trips with his family.
